Remember the honesty policy (included in the Syllabus): Do not turn in anything but your own work.

Homework is to be submitted in two forms :
electronically, by "submit" script on atlas before the start of class on the specified due date (see detailed instructions below);
hard copy printout, which will be collected at some point during the class on the specified due date.

Late homework will not in general be graded and will scored as a 0. Consult the instructor beforehand if circumstances beyond your control will prevent you from meeting the due date and time.

The plan is to discuss each homework assignment in class on the due day, so come to class prepared to explain your answers to the exercises. One third of your total homework score for the course will be based on your participation when called upon. Everyone will have the same number of opportunities to participate during the course of the term.

The electronic form of your homework submission may be displayed by projector using vi in order to facilitate discussion in class, so export any .doc files to .txt format, and for any text file created on a Windows PC use "dos2unix" on atlas to clean it up before submitting it.

The instructor or the teaching assistant may compile and test any code in homework, so you may want to do the same before turning it in.

Electronic submission instructions :

• In addition to handing in your homework in written form, you must also submit your homework electronically through atlas. You must first have a directory on your unix account called "Homework#" where # is the number of the homework set you are submitting. This directory must contain all of the files for homework set.
• If you are logged into one of the UNIX or Linux machines in 307, you need to remotely log into atlas. To do this, open up a console window and type "ssh [username]@atlas.cs.uga.edu". You will be asked for a password. After entering it, you will be logged into atlas.
• Make sure all your files are in their proper places in the directory called "Homework#". Now change directories up to the level above your homework directory - it probably should be your csci1302 directory. Type "ls" and press enter. You should see your homework directory.
• Now type the following command (without the quotes) and press enter: "submit Homework# cs1302a", where # is replaced by the number of the directory you wish to submit.
  WARNING : Do not use the "tab" auto-completion feature of your UNIX shell to run this command, as it has caused many problems in the past. In other words, make sure you type the entire command.
• You will receive a receipt in that directory letting you know that your homework has been submitted. Keep that for future reference.
